Program Description:          

Vocational Services are delivered by special education teachers who have additional expertise in vocational training. These staff members assist students in their transition to adulthood by providing
employment skill training. The services emphasize identified career interests, pre-vocational responsibility, discipline and social skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment. On the job training (OJT) is practiced within our school buildings, at community work training sites, and through volunteer service opportunities, or through supported paid job experiences. The Vocational Specialist plans, implements and coordinates vocational services for the Mid-Valley New Directions high school program.

Upcoming Education Job Fair @ NEIU

Roosevelt University's College of Education will co-sponsor a 2015 Education Job Fair.   The Job Fair will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall on the main campus of Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), at 5500 N. St. Louis Avenue in Chicago.

SPECIAL ED TEACHER NEEDED

The Instituto Justice & Leadership Academies (IJLA), a Social Justice, Multi-site, Charter High School will expand opportunities available to our youth. The main campus, Rudy Lozano Leadership Academy (RLLA) is located in Pilsen/Little Village, one of Chicago's predominantly Mexican communities. This model serves students that have not found success in a traditional 4 year program. It is a three-year program serving youth 17-21. Many of our students come from Chicago Public Schools seeking understanding, excitement and renewed opportunities to learn and earn their high school diploma.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide instruction and instructional support as dictated by IEP’s and Federal mandates. Communicate with students and parents about students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP) as required by Federal Law, NCLB and other mandates.  Provide instructional minutes as mandated by the IEP. Collaborate and co-teach with general education teachers to ensure academic proficiency for each student in Special Education to be achieved through curriculum.

 QUALIFICATIONS
§  Bachelors in Education or other related Field
§  Type 10 ISBE Certificate with LBSI Endorsement;
§  Type 9 ISBE Certificate with LBSI Endorsement;
