Summer Camp Lead Teacher Wanted

GirlForward is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering refugee girls who have been resettled in Chicago from various regions of the world. Camp GirlForward is GirlForward's academic summer program designed to meet the needs of girls with limited and interrupted educational backgrounds through academic instruction, as well as enrichment activities designed to build confidence, explore identity and culture, and form leadership skills. Camp is built on the tenets of social justice and will involve intensives in reading, writing, and research. Camp GirlForward is for girls who are refugees entering 9th-12th grades and will run from June 23 through August 14, 2015, with 25 girls enrolled. Class will be held Tuesday-Friday, 9 am - 3 pm. The girls are 14-19 years old and will be English Language Learners.

GirlForward is seeking a Lead Teacher beginning June 2015. Reporting to the Program Director, the Lead Teacher will be responsible for the implementation of curriculum and assessment tools, creating lesson plans, supervising assistant teaching interns, and teaching class daily.

This is a 35 hours/week position with classroom instruction Tuesday-Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM and curriculum planning or office hours on Mondays. For a more detailed description, click here. Hiring Spanish Preschool Teachers in Chicago!


Lango, a foreign-language program, is seeking Spanish teachers for Preschool age children to be taught at various locations around the Chicago Area.

Experience in a preschool setting, or early childhood coursework required. This is an excellent opportunity for parents, retired teachers and students studying education and looking for a PART-TIME position. We provide training and all teaching materials.

Teachers must be energetic, high energy, outgoing and eager to engage children through fast-paced dynamic and interactive games, movement and music-based classes. A high level of comfort with dramatic play, puppets and physical activities is a must for this job.

Responsibilities:

         Teach dynamic, active, play-based immersion classes (minimal English is spoken) to
Preschool age learners 3-5 years old
        Communicate with parents regarding children's progress
        Use feedback gained in teaching these classes to further develop and improve lesson plans and delivery.
        Check email daily

Required Qualifications:
        Fluency in the target language – teachers must be native speakers or fully fluent with no discernible accent.
        Experience teaching young children, preferably in a language context
        Incredibly energetic and dramatic; an outgoing personality, high level of enthusiasm, self-confidence are a must for this position!

 Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
        Early childhood coursework
        Experience in Preschool setting
        Good Communication Skills, comfortable talking with parents about their children’s progress


Other Beneficial Qualifications:
        Experience with children’s theatre, music or art
        Crafting and games experience
        Singing, dancing, or theatre acting experience
        Camp counselor experience

 Hours and Compensation:

Preschool classes are held in the late morning and late afternoon.

This is a part-time teaching opportunity. The number of classes you teach will depend on your availability. Hours typically range from 2 – 6 hours a week. This job is ideal for anyone with a part-time or flexible schedule. There is opportunity to increase hours with improved performance and consistent reliability. Because of the training and commitments to schools, preference is given to teachers who can commit for the school year or longer.


Pay starts at $25-$30 and is determined based on:

1) Experience
2) Hours available to teach classes
3) Coursework/ Education Background
4) Availability to attend classes throughout the area we cover
5) Flexibility and Skill in working with Multiple Age Groups.

Four Open Math Positions at Stevenson High School

This Spring, Stevenson High School is seeking four long-term substitutes in Mathematics. The dates below are approximate, as all are to cover maternity leaves:

Religious Ed. Coordinator Needed in Grayslake

Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation, located in Grayslake, Illinois, is seeking an enthusiastic individual for the part time position of Religious Education Coordinator to serve our growing congregation.

The position is 10 hours a week. 3 hours on Sunday mornings are mandatory with the remaining hours flexible throughout the week.  $16.00 an hour and professional development opportunities as approved by the Religious Education Committee.

The Religious Education Coordinator assists in planning and implementing the Religious Education program in partnership with the Religious Education Committee.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting and guiding/supporting volunteers, serving as a teacher or program facilitator, supervising Sunday activities, administrative record keeping for things like attendance, budget, and curriculum, and selecting and reading a children's story during the Sunday worship service.

The successful applicant must have experience working with children, be highly organized, demonstrate leadership qualities, have strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with people of all ages and varied experiences (church leadership, members, children and parents).
