Ferst School, a therapeutic day school, combines the best of educational and
social emotional support to students 7 to 21 years of age with diagnoses
ranging from autism and intellectual disabilities to physical challenges and
emotional disorders. The school is staffed by dedicated individuals, including
occupational and physical therapists, special education teachers and
specialized teaching assistants.
The Special
Education Teacher is a professional position with responsibilities in the area
of planning and implementing a therapeutic-educational program designed to
benefit students with autism, intellectual disabilities or other disabilities
in their academic, physical, social, emotional and intellectual development, to
the highest degree possible.
Minimum
qualifications for this position are a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Special
Education; Illinois State Certification in LBS I or LBS II, limited or
unlimited
