Responsibilities:
o
With co-teacher, prepare developmentally appropriate and age
appropriate lesson plans based on the interests of the children
o
Become knowledgeable regarding the Creative
Curriculum and utilize this for lesson planning in the classroom
o
Utilize the concept of authentic learning when
planning themes
o
Use redirection with children as a method of
reducing undesirable behaviors
o
Assist children with learning conflict
resolution skills
o
Help infants learn to self-soothe
o
Prepare, arrange and stock the classroom based
on the lesson plans each day to reflect materials needed prior to children’s
arrival
o
Observe children and document consistently
o
Establish, maintain and enhance all interest
areas
o
Become familiar with DCFS licensing standards
applicable to your classroom and consistently follow those guidelines
o
Work with co-teacher to provide multi-cultural
experiences as appropriate to the age of the children in your classroom
o
Assist in conducting parent-teacher conferences
twice each year, and additionally as needed or as requested by parents
o
Attend any mandatory meetings which may be
outside of the normal work hours
o
Maintain a clean and sanitary classroom
o
Use nap times and or times when attendance is
low in activities related only to enhancing services provided, seeking new
knowledge, lesson plans, screenings or related activities and be prepared to
show documentation and evidence of this if requested
o
Work cooperatively with other staff including
other teachers, office staff, and administration
o
Communicate regularly with parents through daily
logs (if appropriate) and personal communications
o
Use Universal Precautions at all times
o
Assist and participate in the process of NAEYC
accreditation, the Quality Rating Scale or other accreditation programs as
requested
o
Be responsible for the paperwork for the
children for whom you are primary caregiver and complete necessary assessments
on children
o
Become familiar with and adhere to the
principles described in the Code of Ethical Conduct for Early Childhood
Professionals by NAEYC
o
Maintain quality enhancement and food program
paperwork
o
Meet with the Director for supervision on a
regular basis
o
Ask for help when needed
o
Be available to occasionally work additional
hours as needed
o
Other duties as assigned
