Summer Camp Lead Teacher Wanted

GirlForward is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering refugee girls who have been resettled in Chicago from various regions of the world. Camp GirlForward is GirlForward's academic summer program designed to meet the needs of girls with limited and interrupted educational backgrounds through academic instruction, as well as enrichment activities designed to build confidence, explore identity and culture, and form leadership skills. Camp is built on the tenets of social justice and will involve intensives in reading, writing, and research. Camp GirlForward is for girls who are refugees entering 9^th-12^th grades and will run from June 23 through August 14, 2015, with 25 girls enrolled. Class will be held Tuesday-Friday, 9 am - 3 pm. The girls are 14-19 years old and will be English Language Learners.

GirlForward is seeking a Lead Teacher beginning June 2015. Reporting to the Program Director, the Lead Teacher will be responsible for the implementation of curriculum and assessment tools, creating lesson plans, supervising assistant teaching interns, and teaching class daily.

This is a 35 hours/week position with classroom instruction Tuesday-Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM and curriculum planning or office hours on Mondays. For a more detailed description, click here.
