Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK‐12th grade
independent day school located in the heart of
Chicago, IL. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive
education, which include prioritizing the
application of knowledge and the preeminence of student
curiosity as an impetus for curricular
decisions, the school currently enrolls 940 students and
employs 200 faculty and staff members.
These dedicated people, in addition to assistant
teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work
together to ensure that the School lives up to its

to think and act with
empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and
leaders in a democratic society and global
community.”
We are currently seeking a dynamic, creative, and
experienced Mathematics teacher to
join our expert faculty. Responsibilities include
teaching four sections of mathematics
each semester, leading an advisory, and chaperoning
trips. Opportunities to coach,
participate in our community service program, and sponsor
student extracurricular
activities are also available.
Required Qualifications:
• M.A. or Ph.D. Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related
discipline
• Facility and comfort in teaching Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics
• Significant classroom teaching experience with high school students of
varying mathematical
ability
• Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity
• A commitment to learn and grow professionally, e.g. an interest in
mathematics
pedagogy and refining ones craft of teaching
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
• Interest in extra‐curricular involvement with students
•
Commitment to community service and social justice work
