SUMMARY:
The Administrative Assistant reports to the Department Co-Chairs and works with the
Department members. The person in this position is the face of the
department and represents Highland Park High School to parents, staff and
community members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule numerous meetings throughout the year for department members with families, students, and required Highland Park High School staff;
- Provide support to the Special Education Department;
- Assist in the maintenance of department special education budget, monitor spending, and reimbursement throughout the school year;
- Report attendance data for department members
- Order supplies and materials for the department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the following software: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Google Docs
- Possess outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently, accessing supports as needed
- Possess mathematical and analytical skills appropriate for budget management and the position
- Ability to handle many responsibilities concurrently
- Ability to work with others in a positive manner
- Ability to understand and follow written directions and verbal instructions
- Possess problem solving skills, have common sense, and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with complex situations as they arise.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of employee, student and other sensitive District information.
- Ability to set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently
