Supporting Literacy and Math (SLAM) is seeking one Assistant Teacher to join the team of an innovative after-school program. SLAM provides foundational-skill support in reading and math to at-risk kindergarten and first grade students attending a Chicago Public School in Rogers Park. The program engages students by offering a curriculum that celebrates active learning. Students are taught in groups of eight.
SLAM meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. and runs from mid- October-mid-May. The position pays $20 an hour.
Candidate must be flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of the students. Applicant must be team player and welcome the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment. Experience working with primary age children is required.
Requirements for this position:
*Must have previous experience working with children
*Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or higher
*Coursework in elementary education, reading, ELL, learning disabilities or special education preferred
