H.S. Math Teacher


Alcott College Prep seeks High School Math Teacher

Background:
Alcott College Prep High School West Campus was created in 2010 in order to extend the learning opportunities and community of our Elementary School campus and currently serves 300 students in grades nine through twelve. The 2012 -2013 school marked the start of a new vision for Alcott and we are looking for teachers who are committed to helping us realize that mission; we need strong, passionate, and collaborative educators to develop a college prep high school that prepares every student to be informed, active, and engaged citizens.  
Mission
Alcott’s mission is to educate students to become innovative leaders, engaged citizens and lifelong learners. Our students will be wise, creative, critical thinkers and will take responsibility for their own learning at every age.

 Qualifications:
     Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education, Master's degree preferred
     Current Illinois Professional Educator License or Educator License with Stipulations - Endorsements: Secondary Education (9-12) or Special (K-12 or PK-21)
     Dual Subject Certification preferred (Math and Science preferred)
     At least 2-3 years teaching experience (Chicago Public Schools experience preferred)
     Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, classroom and behavior management techniques.
     Proven knowledge and successful integration of CRS and CCSS standards
     Success in using student data from formative classroom and standardized assessments differentiate instruction
     Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team
     Excellent oral and written communication skills along with high energy and willingness to be flexible and creative
     Collaborate with staff to design vertically aligned assessments, strategies, and activities that build upon our AP and democratic mission and vision.
     Collaborate and maintain communication with administration, department team, grade level team, and instructional leadership team.
     Participate actively in school activities; actively engage in developing school culture.
     Evaluate student progress on a continuous basis and provides feedback to students, parents and appropriate staff members.  Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by state law and Board policies.
     Engage parents and community in and outside the classroom; create opportunities for students to engage with adults and students outside of the immediate ACP family.
     Participate in staff development programs, staff meetings and extra-curricular activities.  Attend educational conventions and conferences to learn and discuss new methodologies for teaching. Share new learning and best practices with the staff by leading PD
