Assistant Teachers Wanted for After School Program

Supporting Literacy and Math (SLAM) is seeking two Assistant Teachers to join the team of an innovative after-school program. SLAM provides foundational-skill support in reading and math to at-risk kindergarten and first grade students attending a Chicago Public School in Rogers Park. The program engages students by offering a curriculum that celebrates active learning.Students are taught in groups of eight. SLAM meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. and runs from midOctober-mid-May. The position pays $20 an hour.

Candidates must be flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of the students. Applicants must be team players and welcome the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment. Experience working with primary age children is required. Assistant teachers will receive a monthly stipend.

ASSISTANT TEACHER 
Requirements for this position:

*Must have previous experience working with students aged 5-8 years old
*Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or higher
*Coursework in elementary education, reading, ELL, learning disabilities or special education preferred
