Teach or Counsel in Memphis!

Shelby County Schools is accepting teacher, counselor, and librarian applications for all subjects and grade levels for the 2016-17 school year.
In addition to candidates who will hold a teaching license by August 2016, we are also seeking candidates interested in teaching on an alternate route license. We’re especially interested in candidates interested in teaching:
·       Chemistry
·       Elementary
·       English as a Second Language
·       Mathematics
·       Middle Grades
·       Physics
·       Special Education
·       Spanish
·       Technology and Engineering Education

Our Compensation & Benefits
Teacher salaries start at $42,343. A comprehensive benefits package is also offered that includes health, dental, vision, and flexible spending account options. 

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and be eligible to work in the United States.

Additionally, candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
  1. Hold full teaching certification in Tennessee or another U.S. state OR
  2. Hold an undergraduate GPA of 2.75+ and pass the Tennessee Praxis II content exam requirements for the subject you wish to teach OR
  3. Hold an undergraduate GPA of 2.75+ and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the subject you wish to teach (some exceptions apply when following this option)

If you qualify for option 2 or 3, you must be willing to enroll in education coursework if offered a position. This is required in order to receive a Practitioner teaching license in Tennessee. The coursework also offers support and strategies you can apply to your teaching.

Unfortunately, Shelby County Schools is unable to sponsor candidates who need an H-1B visa.
