Art Assistant Needed in Chicago

This message comes from Tiffany Armitage, a School Counseling Intern at Crown Academy in Chicago.

Below is a request made by the Crown Academy Art Teacher looking for volunteers to assist with projects throughout the school. The art teacher would love some help creating a bright and artistic environment for students to learn in as well as to show off the vast accomplishments of Crown Academy to parents and visitors.

Specifically, the teacher is seeking creative students to help hang posters, install bulletin board displays, and help document the impact of arts on student learning.  She is looking for  volunteers who can work approximately 3+ hours per week, (one afternoon per week, flexible).  The volunteer must be detailed oriented and comfortable cutting and gluing!  This is a perfect volunteer position for scrap-bookers, and graphic art or education majors!

The school is close to the Central Park pink line. The volunteer could receive food and transportation, a recommendation, help developing a teaching portfolio, art materials...and of course undying gratitude.

Tasks include:

  *   setting up theater and computer lab classrooms
  *   alphabetizing and labeling students portfolios
  *   designing bulletin boards and prepping displays
  *   photographing displays

You will have no direct contact with students. If you are interested in helping, please contact Mari Rice at mdrice@ameritech.net or Tiffany Armitage at tarmitagesc@gmail.com.  Thank you!
